Best bad guy or villain in the movies

Oh what a question! The best bad guy or villain in the movies. I suppose it depends on what kind of movie you like to watch. Do you like horror movies or action? Science fiction or drama? Romance or war? Personally I like every kind of movie as long as it has some redeeming trait. There are probably thousands of movie bad guys, many of them are pretty awesome like Magneto, Lex Luthor, and The Joker or Two Face. Then horror movie bad guys like Michael Myers, Jason Vorhees, Freddy Krueger, and The Leprechaun. I suppose the best bad guy is a matter of perspective. Personally I am a huge Freddy fan. I believe him to be a creative and original character.

Think about it. A young nun is mistakenly left in a room full of convicts where she is raped. When she is finally found she is pregnant and gives birth to Freddy. He grows up in foster homes being abused, killing hamsters, being teased in school. He grows up to be a child murderer, a child murderer that gets off scott-free so a bunch of parents hunt him down and light the boiler room he is hiding in on fire. Then spirits of the underworld come to him as he burns and gives him eternal life in people's dreams. What better way to be able to mess with people's minds, or kill them than with their own dreams? Sounds like a pretty original story to me, not "oh look giant monster, mummy, zombie, vampire, or werewolf" kind of movie.

This character has had many memorable and creative scenes. In one such scene he tricks a young man into believing he is dreaming that a sexy model is swimming in his waterbed before he kills him. In the morning his mother finds him inside the waterbed. Another scene is a girl in a mental hospital he lifts her and smashes her head into a television screen, where the orderly finds her hanging later in the evening. Get whatever powers they desire but are still defeated. Another memorable scene is a girl dreaming she is at school and she sees her dead friend wrapped in plastic in the doorway. She then continues to follow the blood trail through the school down to the boiler room where she engages in a short battle waking herself by burning her arm on a hot pipe. Another scene is one in which kids try to battle him realizing it is only a dream. Plenty more in Nightmare 5: Dream Child - he attacks a woman through the dreams of her unborn child. My personal favorites however are the first and last which were both by Wes Craven. The original A Nightmare On Elmstreet and The Last Nightmare called the New Nightmare.
