When you are in the business world, the most important thing that you have is your voice. It is your most important asset, and you can use it to make or break your career. When you really stop and think about how much your tone, and the way that you speak can get you in trouble, or get you promoted, it really is a marvelous thing. If you are looking to make a big splash early on in your career, how you speak can determine how far you go.

Public speaking is a huge thing in the business world. Whether it be talking in front of an audience, or talking to your group before a presentation, you ability to speak is going to be what you use to persuade people. You can use your voice to get people to follow you, or guide them in the direction that you want them to go in. To be able to speak well in public is to be able to influence people.

Even when you speak to your boss, or just give an order at work, how you say it can say a lot about you. If you go up to your boss with a weak tone, you might sound as if you are lacking conviction as to what you are proposing. Whether it be asking for a raise, a promotion, or simply for a minute of face time, how you say it determines if you get it or not.

Think about it, if someone comes up to you with a weak voice, and doesn't sound sure of what they want, are you going to listen? Of course not, you want something who using a loud voice, someone who has strength in the words that they say, and have some belief behind them. These are the people who are going to get farther in life than those who speak without conviction.

Next time you are at work, you should observe those around you, and see how they got to be where they are. Chances are the ones who are either management, or are being groomed for that role have this one thing in common, and that is that they sound as if they know what they are doing. Even if they are unsure, or really aren't sure what is going to happen, they give the impression that they do know what they are going to do.

Confidence is leadership, and leadership is a byproduct of good use of voice. Be strong in your words, and you will be strong in your command. Be strong in your command and you will be able to persuade, and lead people wherever you want them to go. That is how careers are made, and that is why using your voice well can really help you out in the long run.
