There are many new faces emerging for the Republican party; however, the Democrats are remaining low-keyed; at least until they can determine how President Obama does this term.
From what we are hearing in the public arena, here are a few of the names that have been dropped for the Republic party:
Bobby Jindal - Governor of Louisiana
Newt Gingrich - Ex-Speaker of the House - Mid-90's (They aleady have memobilia such as t-shirts, buttons, and stickers for 2012).
Rick Santorum - Former United Senator, Pennsylvania
Charlie Crist - Governor of Florida
Chuck Hagel - National Security Advisor to Obama
Pat Buchanan - Conservative political commentator and author. He was Senior Advisor to three Presidents and also ran in 1992. Some Republicans believe he should run again.
Michael Steele - Republic National Committee, Chair; Governor of Maryland, four years
Mike Hukabee - Governor of Arkansas
Sarah Palin - Former Governor of Alaska who is currently fundraising and traveling, promoting her new book. Most people believe she is preparing to run for the Presidency; not Vice-President; since it is alleged that she did not end on a positive note with Senator McCain.
John McCain - Senator, Arizona. Although he ran in 2008; people believe he is gearing up for 2012.
Tim Pawlenty - Governor of Minnesota
Fred Thompson - Senator, Tennessee, 1994 - 2003
Kay Bailey Hutchinson - Senator, Texas
Mark Sanford - Governor of South Carolina
Colin Powell - Retired Four-Star General, Served as Secretary of State from 2001 - 2005. Although some believe he is not interested; many Republicans believe he would be an excellent competitor for President Obama, especially if he does a great job this term. It remains to be seen.
Several Congressmen are also mentioned:
Mike Pence - Indiana
Ron Paul - Texas
The "buzz" regarding the Democratic nominees are are follows:
Evan Bayh - Senator of Indiana
Tom Vilsack - United States Secretary of Agriculture
Mike Gravel - Senator of Alaska
Bill Richardson - Governor of New Mexico
Wesley Clark - Retired General
Howard Dean - Served six terms as Governor of Vermont and also ran for President in 2004. He was Chairman of the Democratic National Committee from 2005-2009.
Al Sharpton - Civil Rights Activist, Minister who ran for Presidency in 2004
John Kerry - Senator, Massachusetts, ran for Presidency in 2004
Al Gore - Environmental Activist, Served as Vice-President under Bill Clinton for two terms
Hillary Clinton - Vice-President to President Obama
Barbara Boxer - U.S. Senator of California
There are several Independents being mentioned:
Alan Keyes - Activist and author, ran for President in 1991, 1996, 2000, and 2008.
As indicated previously, there are numerous suggestions for the new faces for the Republic party for 2012 Presidency; however, both parties are awaiting to see how President Obama does. Bobby Jindahl seems to be the favorite; however, should President Obama do well and decide to run for a second term; they believe it would be wise to run people like Colin Powell, Newt Gingrich, John McCain, or Wesley Clark; people with more experience.
