Denver has more restaurants per capita than anywhere in the US. If you are a foodie, it is the city for you. I have been in the restaurant business for 13 years, and I love working in Denver's market. There are large corporate restaurants as well as wonderful family owned spots and chef-driven gourmet options. Here is a list of the restaurants I think are worth visiting in no certain order.
Vesta Dipping Grill
1822 Blake St.
Denver, CO 80202
This restaurant is extremely consistent in their service as well as their food. The Venison is to die for. I am a sauce girl, and they offer 30 to 40 sauce choices, and each entre gets to have 3 options. They are known for their venison, lamb and scallops. All three are fantastic, every time. The wine list is decent and the bar is a fun place to eat.

Chef Driven. Chef Troy Guard of 975, Ocean, and Zengo (when they were really GOOD) has outdone himself. The food is exquisite. The ingredients are absolutely the main focus of the menu, and while Troy is a cheap-skate in areas like linen cost and glass breakage, he never skimps on ingredients. The freshest fishes, Asian vegetables, intricate sauces, high-quality meats, and beautiful presentations make this a winner. The waiters are extremely knowledgeable, and can suggest a wine and a meal to suit your palate if you give them some adjectives. This restaurant is not for the beginning diner. The menu has advanced flavors and ingredients.
Bistro Vendome

Denver, CO 80202

Wow. French without the stuffy. Excellent cheese plate. Wine list is well chosen, and the waiters have a good knowledge about the choices and can help you through it. The halibut and the lamb are both excellent. The menu changes quarterly to keep things fresh. Wonderful romantic patio.
Across the highway in the Highlands (cause it's worth the cab ride)...
Pagliacci's Italian
1440 W 33rd Ave
Denver, CO 80211

You have to get the mussels. This is the best Italian in Denver. Period.
Caveau wine bar
450 E 17th Ave
Denver, CO 80203

75 wines by the glass and the most knowledgeable staff in the city. Beautiful small plates, award-winning wine list, family owned and managed. A must-visit. Hands-down the best happy hour in the city. 7 days a week anything $12 and under is $5 and anything over $12 is half price.
