How to make money in Runescape by Jagex? The possibilities are endless. If you are not familiar with the game; Runescape is a free or pay to play Massively Multiplayer Online Role Playing Game (also known as MMORPG) where a player creates a character who has various skills ranging from combat to mining to woodcutting. These skills all begin at level 1 and can progress through training to level 99, as you progress in skills not only do you become more proficient but also you gain access to new equipment, new areas or new components. Membership results in many more skills being available as well as a much bigger world to explore, a huge list of quests and many new items to obtain.

Now to making money in Runescape, the lower your level in the world of Runescape the harder it is to earn money. Early on your best bet is to just build up skills maybe focusing on one skill to earn you some initial cash which you can use to more quickly boost your other skills. Mining or Woodcutting are very good options because the items you gain are both valuable but also can be used to further other skills. Depending on whether you want to go for more experience or earlier cash will determine whether you sell the items you collect or use them yourself. If you sacrifice early cash to better your skills you will find it much easier later on to generate huge amounts of cash. Now if you don't want to just grind skills to make money, another option is to work on your combat skills so that you can defeat stronger enemies. An example of this would be to gain a level 40 or so in the range skill so that you can safely kill lesser demons (level 82) in Kamarji Volcano which will occasionally drop gold coins or even the rare Runite Medium Helm which can be sold for around 20,000 gold coins.

A few other monsters to kill for their item drops are;

Any giant or ogre who will drop big bones which can be sold for around 450 gold coins each.

Any dragon that will drop dragon bones which can be sold for around 1,100 gold coins each.

Though it may seem ineffective; the reality is you are also training your combat skills while you earn money which will provide access to greater monsters to kill and hence better item drops.

Perhaps one of the most effective ways of making money in Runescape, is merchanting. This however requires initial funds with which to purchase items. This relies on the Grand Exchange and if you are free to play this is much slower as you can only have two exchange slots although it is still very profitable. The basic idea is you use the Grand Exchange database on the Runescape website to find items which are likely to rise in price and you purchase as much as you can at minimum price, and once the item rises or if you think you can make some cash, you sell the item at a slightly higher price. Obviously the better the item the more you can make per item. For example if you buy a Guthix Platebody at 691,000 gold coins and then sell it later (there is a four hour delay before you can sell something you just bought) for 711,000 gold coins you will make 20,000 coins though it does not seem to be a huge amount, if you purchase 20 of these platebodies and sell them all you will make 400,000 gold coins for doing absolutely nothing.

These three options for money making cover a wide variety of playing styles and it will be up to the individuals themselves to decide what option/s are best for them. I hope this brief guide has given new players an idea of what they can do to make money or what they can aim to achieve later on. Best of luck to all players.
