Left Behind.
It was a cold Saturday in December,
Christmas preparations were underway,
The tree was decorated, I remember,
Adding brightness to a day of gray.
This was her favorite time of year;
Going shopping for family at the mall,
Diligently creating Christmas cheer,
Decorating and wrapping gifts for all.
None could have guessed the great sorrow,
That the end of that happy day would hold;
She would not be with us tomorrow-
The warmth of the season suddenly turned cold.
A massive heart attack took her life away;
This young wife, mother, and grandmother.
Only fifty-three years on this orb of clay,
A life cherished by me as no other.
I know it was not her desire to leave,
If only she could she would have stayed,
And we who were left behind to grieve,
Were broken hearted and dismayed.
When she was suddenly called away,
We were all left behind to ponder:
'Tis God who dictates, we but obey,
When He calls a loved one up yonder.

Over there behind me and back where I keep it
The unresolved stories in this puzzle of life
Over there behind me away

Where are you?
Did you disappear?
Do you still exist?
Do you see my tears?
Do you come to me
in my dreams at night?
Do you see
THE ONE I LEFT BEHIND
I'm lying here in a new lovers arms,
The rain falling softly outside.
He just loved me so tenderly,

Where have you gone, my dear old dad?
The times spent with you were the best that I had.
We played all our games, you taught
