Kevin, Nick, and Joe Jonas have openly shared their promise to stay pure. I think it sends a positive message to their fans. I think it makes people like them even more. They aren't your normal rock stars. Nick says, "I think this is just one of our ways of kind of like being different than everybody else out there." For one, they are kids, but many stars are sucked up into the Hollywood mess and their career goes down the drain. They haven't, at least not yet. I hope that they will never go bad. It's a choice to stay pure and as a Christian, I respect that. I think that because the Jonas Brothers made the decision, many others have made that decision as well, only because the Jonas Brothers are doing it. That's how pre-teens work these days. I think having all those fans making the decision to stay pure is better than them having sex at 13.
However, if they are only doing because it's what celebrities are doing, they are doing it for the wrong reasons. I would rather see the headline "Jonas Brothers Say They Are Staying Pure" than something like " Joe Jonas caught with Drugs" any day. The decision is positive. Parents don't want their kids getting into trouble. Parents like seeing the celebrities their kids look up to doing positive things. The Jonas Brothers are good kids with good morals. They are mature and can make these kinds of decisions on their own. They love that they have made the choice by themselves. They are very proud of each other and themselves for making their commitment. Nick says his choice is "[It's] pretty awesome". Interviewers ask Kevin, Nick, and Joe about their choice and they always say in a nutshell that it is a personal decision. That's exactly what it is. Many fans respect the decision of the super star brothers.
Yet, there are many people out there who disagree with the purity issue. I was reading a lot of comments on articles about this issue. Most are saying, "They just have purity rings to hide that they are gay" or "Yeah, sure. Get back to us in 6 months and let us know how that whole virginity thing is working out for you. BTW, boys, a male human hit his sexual peak between the ages of 18 and 22. (Just thought you might want to know...)". Those people are the people I try to avoid. Those people just hate on teen celebrities when they aren't busy. I'm 14. Not a fan of the Jonas Brothers. I completely understand their decision. Why can't those people who make comments like that do just what I did? I don't get it. Bottom Line: The Jonas Brother's public decision to stay pure is a positive influence on their very loud, screaming fans.
