How to avoid anger at work.
When we first begin a career in life, one of the best things we can do is set a rule and follow it through until the end. I made a rule for myself long ago to avoid showing any type of anger in the workplace because this can prove to others that we are a weak person and we cannot talk through a problem without having or showing anger. Anger can become rage and it can cause a person to be dismissed from their job. Anger can ruin relationships and friendships that were once treasured. Anger can stir the soul and cause one to do something they would never think of doing.
The best thing people can do in life is to avoid having any sort of anger in their hearts and minds. Anger will gnaw at the inner souls of mankind and cause them to do things they never would have done if they had remained in control of themselves. We should all try to control the anger when it begins to build in our minds. It will only cause a person to say something they wish they could take back or to do something that might hurt someone else to the core.
We are a much better person if we have control of ourselves at all times. Sometimes it is hard to suppress anger, but it is best to bite the tongue and keep our mouths shut. Now, I'm not saying we should allow other people to walk all over us; I do not believe we should ever allow anyone to cross the line with us, but there is a way of handling anger in the proper way and to stop and think about how to handle a problem before getting angry and spurting out things we would not have necessarily said.
I've seen people go into a rage and knock things off their desks and break up several nice vases and pictures from their anger. When a person is in this state of mind they are subject to do anything. Many people cannot get anger out of their systems, and they'll hold a grudge until they finally explode and do things they end up regretting forever.
Readers, anger does not get us anywhere, and the best thing we can do is stop and control the anger before we allow it to swallow us up into its rage. When we see anger coming on, it's best to turn and walk away before ever trying to address the problem we are facing. There's been people who suffer from road rage and they have ended up killing people before they knew what they have done. Think about it; they could get death for their hasty act of anger. Stop, think and leave anger alone until you can discuss the problem rationally.
