It is ironic: Our technologies have been developing in such a rate, that nowadays it only takes as little as a mouse click to find dozens, maybe hundreds, of job offers from various different places around the world, and in a diverse range of business fields. The education systems in most countries are becoming more and more complex each time, yielding better prepared candidates with profiles that companies would not hesitate to have working in their projects. There are consulting services that specialize in polishing resumes, guaranteeing their customers to write and modify their resumes in such a way that they will raise interest from potential employers, which will result in quite a few interview requests. It would all appear that, in the labor market, everything has evolved to favor the job seekers. But when applicants enter the labor market to hunt for that job that will help them grow and align themselves to the career path that they wish, they often find out that landing a job appears to be harder than ever.
Job seekers could blame the phenomenon mentioned above to a variety of reasons: There is a larger pool of job seekers than ever before, companies are not hiring new talent (and moreover, sometimes they are laying it off) because of recession, or employers are looking for more and more specific skills, educational backgrounds and work experiences to fill their positions, which leaves every new opening available to only a selected group of people who comply with all the desired requirements. There might be many other explanations that could give job hunters reasons why it is extremely complicated to land a job. These false reasons will momentarily relieve their anxiety about the painful experience of not landing any options. Sadly, these ideas will not help a lot to improve the candidate's approach to securing a job easier and faster.
I have been in the hunt for jobs before, and my experience, just like that of many people nowadays, was sometimes very frustrating and at points, it was even depressing. The feeling of having a profile that no one appears to like is far from pleasant, and that sometimes demoralizes candidates and helps to develop frustrations that can eventually lead to give up in the job hunting process. Fortunately, I learned from my work searching experience and I noticed that things were much different than they are perceived, which is the knowledge that I would hereby like to share with potential job candidates. Here is the secret:
