Lunch time for many college students means hitting the local watering hole, ie the cafeteria, for food. There is nothing wrong with this, but going to the cafeteria means waiting in lines and willing that person in front of you to hurry up, which can create a problem for students who only get a half an hour to an hour for lunch, due to their class schedule. For those on the go, the best way to get a hassle free lunch is to make one before leaving home, or the proverbial dorm room.
For an easy pre made lunch, pack your favorite sandwich, a bag of chips, yogurt, and any other snack foods you like. Pack just enough to hold you over to reach the end of the day. However, if your appetite hankers for more than just a sandwich and chips, think about taking some left-overs from last night dinner with you to school, and then heat it up at a communal microwave usually available in the cafeteria.
Healthy choice has helped to make lunch even easier with their Fresh Mixers, where all you need is water and a microwave, and wa-la you have a scrumptious hot bowl of spaghetti, chicken cacciatore, steak portobello, as well as many other desirable creations. Michelina's frozen entrees are another great source of easy pre- made lunches that are compact yet fulfilling, for those long drawn out days. Michelina's not only offers mouth-watering budget friendly pasta dishes, but flat bread sandwiches and appetizing pepperoni, and ham and cheese snackers as well.
If your in calorie cutting mode and want something simpler and healthier, two combinations not necessarily easy to come by in the cafeteria, make a salad at night and then take it with you in one of the many varieties of lunch sacks readily available for purchase at your local Walmart or grocery store. So, you get an easy to make lunch in portable packaging, the ideal situation for the busy college student type. If only homework could be made this easy then all college life would be a breeze.
To Conclude this list of easy pre-made meals for the busy college student, there is that old comforting standby, microwaveable macaroni and cheese or if you want to go extreme low cost, cup-O-Noodles is another choice. Although, if the cuisine and ease of going to the cafeteria is to much to resist, at about double the cost of a pre-made lunch from home, there are a wide variety of sandwiches and easy fix meals to choose from. If the schools cafeteria is well equip, there could even be a salad bar available, which is convenient especially if you only have minutes to spare before having to head off to your next lecture.
