The world we live is far different than it was a half century ago. At that time, women regularly dressed up, not just for special events, but because that was the normal manner in which society did things at that time. We've become a more casual culture and people, and now, there are no more than a few times for which a woman may be called upon to wear dress or formal shoes in any given year. Consequently, casual shoes are likely to occupy about 9/10 of woman's shoe wardrobe.

Part of the trick to choosing the best casual shoes is knowing how to choose shoes that are versatile enough to be worn with different types of clothing, but stylish enough that the outfit looks well put together. A casual shoe should be able to be worn with pants or a skirt or dress, shorts or a skirt or any other multiple combinations of different types of clothing .

Here is a look at choices that are arguably the best, most versatile and practical choices.

*Summer sandals -

Summer sandals are a must have. A casual pair of flat sandals can be worn with Capri pants, cropped pants, shorts, skorts, sun dresses, skirts, or regular jeans. Look for neutral colors because they can be paired with any color combination. Trying to match colors is an exercise in futility because it's virtually impossible to get different shades to match exactly.

*Ballet flats -

Ballet flats are probably the most versatile casual shoe that a woman can own. A simple ballet flat can be worn with a pencil skirt, a sun dress, a denim skirt, jeans, any type of casual pants, Capri pants, cropped pants, regulars skirts and dresses and just about anything else. A pair of ballet flats can even work with the infamous "little black dress" when it is worn as casual attire.

*Plain pumps -

A pair of plain pumps are essential for anyone who works in the business world or aspires to work in business or any other professional or semi professional capacity. Pumps are the perfect accompaniment to a skirt and jacket, a pair of pants and jacket, a dress, a plain skirt, trousers, or anything else that can be considered business attire. For anyone looking for a job, a pair of pumps will put the finishing touches on a simple outfit and make it look more polished.

*Knee high boots -

Knee high boots are another wonderful addition to anyone's shoe wardrobe. Classic riding boots will look great with long skirts, shorter skirts, dresses, denim skirts, or even with pants. Riding boots are elegant and sophisticated and can really alter the appearance
