Inexpensive cloth diapering for babies

The most inexpensive cloth diapers for babies are the basic prefolds. These lightweight yet absorbent piece of cloth have been the corner stone of cloth diapering for decades. Useful in so many ways, prefolds are the go-to diapers that many cloth diapering parents continue to turn to. The low cost, usability, and simplicity of design soon makes this abundantly clear.

Prefold diapers are flat diapers sewn into three sections. Made of several layers on top of each other the centers are thicker to absorb more while the sides are thin to make them easier to adjust. They come in a variety of sizes, from newborn to toddler, and can be made from bleached and natural cotton. These simple diapers only cost around $2 per diaper, an incredible bargain for parents considering cloth diapering on a budget. Many parents can feel intimidated by the up front costs of buying diapers that an range from $10 to $25 per diaper. The low cost of prefolds means that anyone can begin cloth diapering without needing to spend a lot of money right away.

Prefolds are a great inexpensive diaper because of their many uses. Prefolds are more than just great cloth diapers on their own, they can also be used as inserts for other cloth diapers. Parents can fold and stuff prefold diapers into pocket diapers or stuffed into other diapers for added absorbency. Even long after cloth diapering is done prefolds can continue being useful for cleaning, dusting, and polishing. Prefold diapers have a long term value that is especially great in today's economy.

Some parents scoff at the old fashioned prefolds, envisioning the old way of diapering with metal pins and rubber pants. Cloth diapering today has changed so much, however, that this does not need to be the case any longer. New tools, such as the Snappi, to hold diapers on and a great assortment of various diaper cover options gives prefolds a new life. The simplicity and low cost of the basic prefold diaper can enhance many of the more expensive cloth diaper options you may choose. No one needs to feel like they are being held back by their choice to use prefold diapers.

Parents looking for the best inexpensive cloth diapers and wanting to get their money's worth would do well to buy prefold diapers. Cloth diapering does not have to cost a lot of money, and it can be even more inexpensive if you make great choices when purchases diapers.
