John Mayer has fans because of his melodies, guitar, and his voice. At least that's why I'm a fan. His album "Continuum" was sitting at the bottom of a pile of CDs in a box at my house before I moved. I decided that even though I have never listened to this CD, I was going to keep it. So about three months later, I as searching around my new house looking for some CDs to put on my iPod and this gray CD cover caught my eye, Continuum Music by John Mayer. I knew the songs "Waiting' on the World to Change" and his cover of "Free Fallin", so I figured I would try it. I imported all the songs into my iTunes library and listened while I was on my computer doing regular things thing checking my email and Facebook. I fell in love with John Mayer's music that night. I listened to the whole album that night. His songs put you at ease and tap the rhythm on the table.
The music made me feel like I was in one of those music bars with just the singer, his guitar, and his band, and that's the way I like my music. Simple, yet amazing. John Mayer can play the guitar; there is no doubt about that in this album. You can really feel the soul he has in this album. His voice makes you ponder over every word. I have to dissect the lyrics to understand what he's really trying to say, I think it's fun to do. Example: "Vultures", might look a little strange when you first see it, but listen and you'll get what he's trying to say. I'm Gonna Find Another You is probably the most simple song on the album, but it is my favorite.
Mayer doesn't need all the fuzzy guitars and all the bells and whistles that comes with bubble-gum pop songs. All he needs is his self and a guitar. I can listen to this album all day. It's that good. John Mayer is one of the greatest musicians of this time in my book. Some of the songs on the album are broken-hearted songs and they make you feel the pain. However, you can only feel it if you really listen. That's what John Mayer makes you do, listen to his music. He is a music genius. He made me, a country music fan, into a blues/rock fan. If you're looking for an amazing CD to listen to, pick up this album. You will not regret it.
