Poetry: Life after death

By the dark of moon at Heaven's Gate
It's a dear old friend on whom I wait
I left him several years ago
When bad health beset me to and fro

And once I came upon this place
With angels' song and full of grace
I knew at last that I was home
With friends and family, no longer alone

And now I wait upon my friend
A new beginning comes from his end
I know he's scared of the unknown
So I want to make him feel at home

Others gather while I wait
To meet their friends who've found their fate
Some they've never meet before
But they will know them once through that door

There's more to life than life on Earth
You were you, before your birth
And so you shall be for all time as you know it
Your wisdom ageless, though you face may not show it

Peaceful feelings and love surrounds
All is good where love abounds
Fear not what you might await
A new life awaits you through Heaven's Gate.

What is death, but a part of life's strife?
But is it the ending, or is it a beginning?
New life, is but an old death.
