Today, media plays very important role in the society and it has become a part of society. Today, entertainment has become a most profitable industry. Media and entertainment industry has connected the whole world. People have become aware of different cultures, societies, and news from every corner of the world. Thus, it can be concluded that media and entertainment affects the society directly or indirectly. Now the question arises of how media and entertainment affects the society.
Television shows and movies influence its viewers as the characters played by the actors in the movies and television show inspires the people most. They try to imitate their favorite characters played in the shows and movies. Thus, entertainment affects the society hugely. The effect can be either positive or negative; it depends on the type of entertainment produced on the television.
Today, most of the television shows and movies are full of violence and sex. Shows and movies which are full of violence are gaining more popularity than the shows/movies without any violence. Children show like cartoons and game shows are also endorsing violence which affects the soft and innocent minds of children. They are the easy victim of such display of violence. They learn from what they see or hear and these programs taught them how to behave in a hostile way. Such programs affect the behavior of children and children are future of the society, thus, violence shown in the programs affect the future of our society.
Children's mind is like a blank paper on which such programs left negative impressions. Their behavior becomes violent and unsteady. Violence becomes another play for them. The aggression in their behavior also grows with their age. Such outrageous behavior can harm the society in a number of ways. They can involve in negative and criminal activities and in this way violence in entertainment increases the crime in the society.
Violence in entertainment influences the nature of people. There are many examples when people get inspired to duplicate a crime scene shown in movie or television show. They committed the crime in the same way they have seen on the screen. Abuses and sexual crimes shown on the screen inspire many people to do the crime. Thus, violence in entertainment show affects the behavior of the people negatively.
People also try to follow the lifestyle and behavior of their favorite stars. Sometimes the desire to live like them reaches to that extent where people lose their own identity and in the end they left with the frustration. This causes problems like depression and stress, which in turn affects the society. A depressed person or mentally affected person cannot contribute in the society like any other normal person. This reduces the productivity of affected person and which is loss of the society.
