You need an income, and you need it now. The landlord is banging down the door, the electric company has one hand on the switch, and your greatest fear is cold showers in the dark. You think it might be nice to try some of that top sirloin steak for a change; those Top Ramen noodles just aren't cutting it anymore. If this is an accurate description of your life, it's time to get off the couch! There are several great jobs out there just waiting for you to fill them. If you are willing to take a few easy steps, you'll be bringing home the bacon in no time!
Surf The Web
Only a few short years ago, job searching meant spending hours behind the wheel, driving all over creation in an effort to collect as many job applications as possible. Well, there's good news! We are living in the Age of Communication, when obtaining an application is as easy as the click of a button. Get online and browse websites like CareerBuilder and Monster. Most jobs not only place their wanted ads online, but they also include a link to complete an online application and sometimes even the employee evaluation exam. With all of the paperwork in one place, you can't go wrong. And you'll save a ton of money on gas. Now that you've filled out your online applications, all you've got to do is wait for that phone call!
Hire Yourself
You don't have to wait for an employer to offer you a job in order to bring home a paycheck. Self-employment is easier than ever, and websites like Craigslist make browsing for wanted ads perfectly simple. All kinds of jobs can be found on Craigslist, from roofing to pet-sitting to poop-scooping. If you really want to work, there is plenty of work out there to be had. And who knows, you might enjoy being your own boss so much that you decide never to work for someone else again!
Suck It Up
Sometimes when you need a fast job, you can't wait around for the glamour careers to come open. Even people with a college degree sometimes have to tuck their tail and flip burgers for a while. Stop whining about your perceived special college grad privileges. In this economy, no one is special. You've got to prove yourself, and sometimes that means taking the blue collar job if that's all that's available. Don't even begin to think about suing your institution of higher learning; odds are that the girl who tried that trick is going to have a hard time finding employment for the rest of her life.
The most important factor to obtaining a fast job is optimism. If you're slouching around feeling entitled to all of the jobs you aren't getting, then snap out of it! A great job is out there waiting for you to fill it! It might not be the final step of your career path, but you will get there soon. You've got to start somewhere. And with a tiny bit of effort, you will have a job faster than you ever imagined.
