No Choice
She sat at the edge of her bed
looking as sad as could be.
I said, Everything going to be fine
you'll just have to wait and see.
I tied one shoe and she forced a smile
you could see she was hiding her fear.
I helped her with her other shoe
as she wiped away a tear.
I won't fit in, I know I won't
there's no one there I know.
Can't I just stay here with you?
I really don't want to go.
Her feather hand held my arm
I helped her stand up tall.
If you get scared, I scolded her
you know you can always call.
We walked to the car, her head was low
her step was slow and unsure.
Helping her climb, in the back seat
I buckled her nice and secure.
We drove like always, without a word
the day-care was open at eight.
There would be plenty for her to do
and my boss said I shouldn't be late.
I helped her out when we got there
we hugged and all was calm.
There's no other place to keep her safe
than senior day-care for . . . Mom!

It shall retaliate with vengeance and death
Yet we insist that it transform itself
