Helium likes to think of all their members as being valuable. I agree - if you take the time to sign up and become a part of the Helium community, there's value in you.
Writing at Helium can sometimes be a lot of work; it isn't something you can just pick up one day. You do need talent in the writing profession, you need patience with yourself and your peers, and you need to devote your time day after day to making your member status more valuable.
To become a more valuable member of Helium, keep in mind the following tips:
1. Keep Writing! - The basis of Helium is of course the writing. To sign up and become a member and then not do anything is a waste of your time and a waste of their time. Sure, writing your first few articles can be somewhat tough, but once you get the hang of the process, why stop? You need to consider Helium a longterm thing - to be a valuable member, you need to stay active.
All you need to do is write quality articles that people will want to read. Writing 10 articles a day without paying attention to what you're writing isn't going to work. Just keep in mind that quality is more important than quantity. Most members, including myself, like to write at least 1 article daily. That's a good goal to start off with - to remain active you need to set goals for yourself. Have an idea what you want to write and when you want to write. Set aside time each day to pour out your knowledge into the best article possible.
2. Keep Rating! - Where would Helium be without the rating system? Helium trusts their members to not only write, but rate. To be a valuable Helium member, you have to do two things when it comes to rating - rate daily and rate quality. I normally take the time to rate a good amount of articles after every article I write. I suggest you do the same. But, don't just rush through the articles you're rating. Do you have to read them entirely through? No. But, pay attention to them, and rate only the BEST article.
3. Make Friends! - No one likes a mean person. It may sound like we're back in elementary school, but it's true. To be a valuable member at Helium you need to become a part of the community. Take a trip to the Helium message boards and post. Get to know other members and add in your kind words. Offer help and advice to new members and those who need it. Being nice will not only help your reputation . . . you may see daily earnings start creeping up as well.
4. Be a Professional! - To be a valuable Helium member you have to know what you're doing! Although all Helium members grow and get better the more they write, you have to come in with knowledge and skills in the writing field. Use good grammar and always write with the interest of wanting to teach your readers something new. Don't be afraid to try writing to new topics - as I said before, you'd be surprised at how much you learn each and every day.
You need to be a professional as a writer but also as a member. Update your "bio page" or profile as often as possible. It's okay to post a picture of yourself and it's okay to let others know a little something about yourself. Keep it neat and clean and always take pride in your work.
As long as you put your dedication and effort into everything you do at Helium your time will be valuable. Others will know to trust you in what you write and respect you in what you say, and to me, that's worth it all.
