Reflections: The passing of loved ones

by Elena Kravtsova

Created on: August 23, 2009

Almost five years ago I lost my younger brother. He was only 24 and he will always be that age for us, his family. We cannot pronounce a word " died" because we are sure he is still with us- we are always speaking to him in our hearts and minds. We do not want to block our memory by saying "he's gone" because his energy is always with us.

He was young and handsome. He had a great talant of studying well and then teaching at university. He was our hope and love.

I don't want to believe that everything dies with a person's death. And I don't believe it! Because it is impossible that anything which connected you with this person can die at once.

I stil remember his voice, I remember his advice about my marriage(although he was younger but I knew he was always wiser than me!), I do remember his kind smile when he was calming me down in case of my being mad at something. He knew how to make me laugh and taught my sun to laugh the same jokes.

I only regret that he had no chance to see his niece's birthday( he dreamed to have a daughter). I know he would love my daughter because she looks like me and he loved me very much. But I will do everything possible that my daughter know her uncle well by telling her how good he was!

Saying words' passed away' or' died' we declare a verdict that this person will never come back! It 's not true! Only people who don't believe in God can say such things!

We all come into this world with a mission: somebody will become a teacher, another- a surgeon, or a miner. We all come into this world with blank files which are to be filled with our deeds- bad or good. Somebody has a destiny of being a criminal, somebody is lucky to become famous and glorify his/her nation. All these people are registered in the world memory book! It issilly to say that we mean nothing by living our life!

And I thank God that I had a brother I could speak to on different things. I do have a brother now but our today dialogue is quiet. I believe he is looking at me at this moment with the same smile which, as I remember, made me smile too...
