How can I be so thirsty when I drank so much last night? The joys of a good night out can often be ruined by the following mornings insurmountable headache. So how this can be avoided? With out, of course, drinking less.
A wise man once told me that the best way to prevent a hangover is to drink two cold red Gatorades before falling asleep. 'They have to be red, and they have to be cold,' he'd say, and he was right. Liquor dehydrates your body. No matter how much liquor you put into your body, you are going to end up taking more water out. So a good way to help stop a hangover is to hydrate yourself before falling asleep. No, it does not have to be with cold red Gatorade.
You might also try alternating between an alcoholic beverage and a non alcoholic beverage. Have a few sips of water between drinks. This will help you stay hydrated while at the same time slow down your liquor consumption.
If you've past the point of no return, and have fallen asleep without proper hydration and to much libation your best bet is to sleep it off. Make sure to get a good rest. This will give your body time to recover and you just might sleep through the worst part of your hangover. If your like me though, you may find it hard to sleep in with a pounding headache, and in that case, your screwed.
You can pop some Advil or eat some bread and try to soak up the alcohol but you aren't going to be feeling your best. I feel that the best thing to do when you are hungover is to take a shower, and get dressed. Not in sweat pants and an old t-shirt. But get dressed in actual clothes. Try to make yourself feel better by cleaning yourself, putting clean clothes on, and tricking your mind to forget that it has been drenched in alcohol.
If you find yourself with a bad hangover after pounding your two red Gatorades the night before, after getting a good night sleep, after popping some Advil, after taking a shower and after putting on nice clothes, well then there is always one more option. A hangover is a mild form of withdrawal. Your body is craving alcohol. So if all else fails, bite the hair of the dog that bit you, and pour yourself a tall glass of the cause, and solution to all man's problems.
