Elm Street in Manchester, NH has been revitalized in recent years, bringing with it the highest quality lounges, restaurants, and shops. Residents no longer flock to Boston for a great night out: they can now have the same experience in their own backyard. There is a bar to suit every taste in this part of the city, and bar-hoppers take full advantage of the fantastic variety now available.
Following are just some examples of the new and improved hot spots. Grab your friends, park the car, and get ready for a night to be remembered:
Starting on the south end of Elm Street, and directly across the street from the Verizon Wireless Arena, is Murphy's Taproom. Expect to not only enjoy a huge selection of ice-cold, foamy drafts and stouts, but also a full dinner menu of savory Irish comfort food. Do not pass on the hearty Murphy's Guiness beef stew, traditional bangers and mash or the delectable Bailey's brulee. Health food it is not, but these rich and filling treats will round out your experience of an Irish pub. Lively entertainment and a full house are the norm here, as are nightly specials including $2.00 drafts. Added amenities include free pool, darts, and trivia and also a large number of HDTV's. Open daily from 11:30 am until 1:00 am, including Christmas and Thanksgiving!
Is there a big game on television? Head over to JW Hill's Sport's Bar & Grille just 2 blocks north from the Verizon. Watch the game in style in this sophisticated sports bar, voted best in the city by the local paper Hippo Press for both 2008 and 2009! Expect Samuel Adams draft specials during all Boston Red Sox games. Raffles and giveaways are also frequent events here. This is a very popular destination for the after work business crowd, as can be viewed from the huge glass windows that surround the side and front. A full menu of delicious American fare with a gourmet twist is another reason this bar is always buzzing with activity.
All dressed up and nowhere to go? Piccola's Upstairs Lounge is a hidden gem, just above Piccola Italia Ristorante at 815 Elm Street. While it is touted as a martini bar, they do have the full array of drinks available. If you are looking for ambiance, this is the place to be. Lounge chairs, couches, and high tables paired with dim lighting and cocktail tables with candles set the mood, along with relaxing entertainment on the weekends. Make sure to come hungry: the full downstairs menu is available, and loyal patrons agree that this is the best
