The scripture, "God shall supply all your needs according to his riches in glory", is often mistaken for the idea of wants rather than needs, which are two completely different concepts. Needs are provisions and help from God that we must have in order to survive, such as food, shelter, clothing, finances, added Gods spiritual blessings such as faith, courage, peace, and protection, etc. When God tells us he will supply our needs according to his riches, he is telling us of the things we cannot live without, or areas in our lives where we can't help ourselves.
Yet many people misunderstand this very scripture, leaving it to become distorted. Mainly due to selfishness in leading them to believe God will give them everything they want. In not seeing that needs are not wants, as God explains in the scripture, "To seek first the kingdom of God and his righteousness, and he will grant you the desires of your heart". This scripture is telling us that God will give us our wants as with also supplying our daily needs. Which means we will have to do things Gods way and not our way then he will be more than pleased to give one the desires of their heart. And a desire is in fact a want and not a need. But unlike our needs, a desire is something a person can live without.
Many people give up to easily on God thinking he will never grant them the desires of their heart, or wants. But that is not true, because during the process of perfecting us, which can take years or even decades, God will supply our needs while waiting and seeking God and his way of doing things to get to the desires of our heart. And that can be proven through the scripture in Hebrews, "Cast not away therefore your confidence, which hath great recompense of reward. For ye have need of patience, that after ye have done the will of God, ye might receive the promise. For yet a little while, and he that shall come, and will not tarry".
God will never fail us on supplying our needs, it is his promise. But receiving the desires of our heart is totally up to the individual to hang in there and wait for God and not faint, give up, or quit. And not giving up is the proof of one's faith in putting their trust and hope in God. God supplying our needs is pleasing and wonderful, but to grant one the desires of their heart is amazing and unbelievable. And it is God's delight that an individual saw it out before reaping their desires in doing everything to the best of their ability Gods way.
