A perfect bath can do so much for a person's mood and outlook on life. After a hard day of work it holds the key to being an outlet for stress and fatigue, soothing sore muscles and calming the mind.
In order to find the secret behind a bath that rejuvenates and lifts your spirit, a great deal of introspect is needed.
We have 5 senses, each special and important, so why should a bath only offer qualities of touch and not touch upon the rest? If a bath is to be perfect, then it needs to touch upon our whole range of perception, and this is where you need to start looking deep inside to tap into what brings enjoyment to you.
The first sense is touch, and is also the first we think of when we decide to have a bath. In order to feel comfortable and properly relax, the water must be at a temperature that suits your own personal liking. A bath is not an occasion to compensate or deal with anything, it is a time to get what you want and feel good about yourself.
The second sense is smell. It's one thing to relax in a warm steamy bath for an hour - it's a whole greater level of enjoyment to do it while your favourite scent envelopes your entire body. You can smell the variety of bath oils at your local specialty shop, department store, or aromatherapy store; or even consult an expert aromatherapist to find a scent that gives you shivers down your spine...in a good way of course.
The third sense, sight, can often be overlooked when you think about a bath. What's to look at in a tiled room laying in a pool of water? Well that's your choice, because whatever makes you happy can find a second home in your bathroom, to a sensible degree of course. Flowers, pictures, mirrors candles, whatever takes your fancy. The lighting and decoration of the surrounding environment plays a crucial part in your comfort, just remember not to go overboard, the atmosphere should build on the other senses instead of stealing the show.
The fourth sense, taste, is a bit of a weird one to consider when you go for a bath, but it is a sense nonetheless, and an easy way to incorporate it into your perfect bath is to make up something simple you like such as a fruit platter or biscuits and dip to enjoy while you're relaxing. Just remember that you're laying in a pool of water and anything you drop into it is going to effect the experience.
The last sense, sound, can really make a difference to your amazing perfect bath. The key here is to choose music that is relaxing and suits your taste. Although mozart may put you to sleep, if it's achieveing this out of boredom rather than relaxation than it's not helping you be comfortable. The genre, tone, pace, and lyrics of music are all very important to this situation, you should choose a genre you like that is also easy and relaxing, and match the other aspects of music to the situation.
By involving all your senses, you create a bath that is a 'league' above the rest. Once the foundation for a perfect bath has been laid, all you need is to lay back and let the world fade away for that blissful moment.
