How much do you value movie critics and reviews?

by Treasa Lascola

Created on: August 23, 2009

There is no such place as the "Hall of Fame for Critics"! There never will be. This I promise you! If your sole purpose is to critique more talented human beings other than you, than your life is not worth the oxygen you happen to be breathing at the moment. Life is too short, I repeat, life is too short to listen to a group of no talent hacks that enjoy tearing down the career of someone more intelligent and talented than themselves just to satisfy an inferiority complex!

To rip apart the self-esteem of a sensitive soul who can cry on cue, is about as valuable to society as peeing in the street. Striving to become a critic is the equivalent to aspiring to becoming a junkie! What a foolish aspiration, job title, and lifestyle, it's rather a pointless existence if I may be so bold! I mean, how do you critique an art that you yourself cannot perform? It doesn't make any sense. This practice in modern culture makes us all look foolish and unable to think for ourselves. I can only hope that as human beings, we can begin to commend each other on our accomplishments for a change, instead of dumping on each other out of envy, if not outright jealousy!

If you really stop to think about it, a critic, a reviewer, or the opinionated portion of our population are the least talented, most envious, of us. And unfortunately, they are the darker side of our nature when it comes to how we treat each other as person to person. How often does anyone complement you at a job well done? Or rather do they try to tear you down and make you feel as insecure as they do? I want you to think about this the next time you plan to see a movie that you've been looking forward to. Because, right next to the movie classified is the movie reviews.

Please, promise me that you won't read them! And if you do read them, please promise me that you will take what they say with a very large grain of salt, like mammoth size salt! Please do not let someone make up your mind for you before you live your life. Whether it mean that you are going to see a movie, buy clothing, listen to music, or anything else! Because life is too short, and I promise there will never be a Hall of Fame for Critics!
