Makeup tips: How to make your eyes look bigger

We all have our own wants and needs when it comes to our makeup. Some of us want to make our cheek bones more pronounced, some of us want fuller looking lips, we want to hide under-eye circles, or any number of things. I think most women would agree however, on one thing; we want our eyes to be the focal-point of our face. We all want beautiful, long eyelashes, well-groomed brows, and eyes that pop. If eyes are the window to the soul, then it's only fitting that we want to draw attention to them.

The best thing to do to make our eyes look bigger is to go lighter. Most women line their eyes with dark eyeliner; whether it be brown or classic black. Go ahead and line the upper and lower eye with dark eyeliner, but line the inside of your lower lash-line with white or cream colored eyeliner. Not only does using white or cream colored liner make your eyes pop, and look bigger, but it makes you look more awake and refreshed. To get the most out of the white or cream eye liner, try only using the dark eyeliner on the outer half of your eye, instead of bringing the line all the way to your tear duct.

Another useful tip to make your eyes look bigger; correct eye shadow placement. If your ultimate goal is bigger eyes, then only use darker eyeshadow on the outer half of your eyelid. Apply a light shade of eyeshadow on the lower part of the eyelid and save the lightest shade for the brow bone, this calls attention to your eyes in general, and makes them appear wider.

If you really want to go the distance and make your eyes appear as large as possible, then try using a highlight around your tear duct and directly below your eye brow. Simply take any light eyeshadow, with a pearly finish and place it in the area directly around your tear duct and below your brow bone. If you don't like the pearl-effect below your eyebrow, then try using a matte white, which will offer similar results. Highlighting is one of the easiest ways to make your eyes appear larger, and brighter.

Lastly, there aren't enough words to say how much a good concealer can do for making eyes appear larger. If you suffer from dark under-eye circles, they certainly make your eyes appear smaller and make you look less awake. A good concealer goes a long way towards making your entire face look more refreshed and vibrant, invest in one, it's well worth it.
