I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me is not all about being a superhero. Doing things through Christ means it is Christ who gives you capability. Sometimes, we are not capable of doing some things without faith in Jesus Christ. Many people whoare shy have to turn to Jesus in order to be able to speak in front of a large group. People who have been hurt in life have to turn to Jesus to have the ability to trust. People who have illnesses have to turn to Jesus for strength. People who are lonely have to turn to him for comfort.
There are times when Jesus has to give us the ability to endure suffering. There are things we will face in life that we may never understand. You can be betrayed by your closet friend. You can be shunned by your family. You could lose all of your material possessions. You could be persecuted for standing firm regarding your beliefs. Many are the afflictions of the righteous, but the Lord delivers them from all. When the statement says all things, it means all things. This does not exclude suffering.
Doing all things through Christ means you are not solely dependent upon yourself. You are acknowledging that you have limits. You are acknowledging that you are unable to accomplish great feats in life without Christ. You are humbling yourself. Many people have Jesus Christ as Savior. Very few have Jesus Christ as Lord. When He is Lord, he directs you. He is the final authority concerning every decision. His opinion overrides the opinion of even your mother and father. He is your leader.
You can do all things through Christ when are are truly his follower. You have to be willing to renew your mind. You have to be willing to let go of anything that is not like Him. When you are a true follower of Christ, you are usually not popular with the "in" crowd. Usually, you are hated by those who do not adhere to the teachings of Jesus Christ. I can do all things through Christ. I can accept rejection. I can deny myself. I can deny the lusts that try to reign within me. I can suffer for righteousness sake. I can also enjoy the many rewards that God gives to the followers of His son. I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me.
