Poetry: A still small voice

by Elizabeth M Young

Created on: August 22, 2009   Last Updated: September 25, 2011

There was a time when

The anger and the rage

With the way things were

Became so large

While I became so small

But in a still small voice

Said "Stop it Stop it all"

There was a time when

It was all about the stage

The joy of acting

Being someone else

Acting a large act

But in a still small voice

Took all of the audience

To another place

Where they frolicked for a while

There was a time when

It was all about the march

The call of orders

Head snapped to the left

To a group so large

But in a still small voice

Illuminated pride

In soldier's pace

We took pride for a prize

There was a time when

No one understood the crash

No one serious

Sick and falling down

Being so ignored

And in a small still voice

Barely heard by all

Spoke of sudden death

And saved a life

And gave life as a prize

There is a time now

When nothing matters

More than living well

Lying to no one

Doing no  wrong

And a still small voice

Louder than before

In writing now

Will open many eyes
