With the threat of global warming all over the news, it is evident that we need to do a better job of trying to save the environment, and to live our lives in ways that minimize our impact on the environment. People like to call it going green, but it is really just little ways of helping save the environment. This is a job too big for one person, but if everyone does some little things, we all can help save the environment. There are many different things that you can do to help, and to try and get others to do the same.
First, you can walk places instead of simply driving everywhere. I know, it's a lot easier to drive the couple blocks to get to the grocery store, but try to walk next time. It's good for you, and it's really good for the environment. This is one of the biggest things that you can do to help, and it even has the added perk of saving you money! The less you drive, the less money you have to pay for gas, and the more you will be helping the environment. That is just good all around.
Next, you can practice recycling. There are lots of different things that you can recycle that will help save the environment, such as: paper, cans, glass bottles, etc. The more you recycle the better it is for the environment. This is a very easy thing to do... instead of just throwing everything in the trash like you normally would, just get a recycling container.
Next, try not to use so much electricity. Maybe you can wear an extra sweater instead of turning the heat up a few more degrees. Or turn off all of the lights when you leave the room, or make sure the TV is off. These things can help save the environment, and help you save on your electric bill! Once again, like walking instead of driving, these things have a double benefit of helping save the environment and helping your wallet.
Finally, you can try to carpool places instead of just having everyone drive by themselves. By the same token that walking helps the environment, carpooling means less cars out there, less gas exhaust, and less harm for the environment. It also allows you to save on your gas bill. So as with a lot of these things, helping the environment has an extra benefit of helping you save on your bills!
These are just a few things that you can do to help save the environment... if everyone did these things, the environment would be a lot better off. They may seem like small things, but small changes by a lot of people are the best way to create large change for the environment as a whole. But it has to start today, and it should start with you.
