Website reviews: Freewebtemplatesnow.com

Freewebtemplatesnow.com is a site that offers free web templates in an interesting way. The site itself is a bit of a mess, with large blocks of blank white space and other blocks of partner links or ads by Google. The site's own template is also a greenish yellow that doesn't go well with the white empty space at all.

On the left of the home page are the template types, "basic" or "cool." The basic templates are literally that: just basic. The templates in this category have few buttons or tables, and are mostly the site's name in the top left corner with a load of white space in the middle (for headers or texts). There are only two pages to browse, and to their credit, users can preview each template or download them with no hassle (in ZIP format). I feel bad complaining about these basic templates, because after all, they're free of charge and someone else's hard work. In addition, perhaps there are some users out there who want just a basic design like this. Still, I have a hard time accepting these templates as proper designs.

In hopes of finding something more than just text and a colorful header, I clicked on the "cool templates" category. Unfortunately, this is a direct link to an entirely different template site, which was more than disappointing. It seems then that the only templates Freewebtemplatesnow.com offers are the two pages of basic templates. Other than these templates, there really isn't much to the site except advertisements.

The site has a "terms of use", which explains that users are not allowed to sell these templates to others, market them as their own, or sub-license the templates in any way. As long as a user links back to Freewebtemplatesnow.com, they will have full access. The site also has a privacy policy, as well as a contact. Furthermore, there is a help/FAQ section dedicated to the two pages of basic templates that they have. Surprisingly, in this FAQ, the site states that: "The site is a provider of professional web templates on the basis of which it is possible to quickly prepare a professional web site." Now again, I am not trying to be rude to the free templates here, but honestly, these templates would never fly as a professional template, let alone a professional website.

Overall, I definitely wouldn't recommend Freewebtemplatesnow.com. The site's templates are so rudimentary that I'm almost positive any other template site would at least offer a greater selection, if not greater templates. While the site has a FAQ and attempts to cater to the user, there are just no good templates here, so it is almost a waste. Moreover, the site's own template, in addition to its multiple ads and partner links on the home page make the site less desirable as a place to visit, and ultimately, I would say stay away.
