If I had a partner and she were a nature lover (the ideal situation for me), here are 10 ideas I could consider for the Valentine's Day to encourage her in keeping on living and respecting it:
1) A guide-book with maps about Regional and National Parks of our region or our Country to allow her to better organize her trekking excursions, of course, with me.
2) A binocular for bird-watching, or also whale-watching, an exciting option also where I live, along the Ligurian Sea, Italy (International Sanctuary for whales and dolphins protection, where we can find whales up to 20 m of length), given that I live in Savona.
3) An ecologic fur, not made by killing animals, but made of synthetic furs, available with every colour or shade we can wish.
4) As a consequence of the number-2) and number-8) gifts, I would offer her a whale-watching cruise just on Valentine's Day to allow her to test her new binocular. For example, a classic mini-cruise from the morning to the evening.
5) A portable GPS for trekking, instead of the usual stupid and addictive cell-phone.
6) A membership card of a serious animalist or ecologist association she likes.
7) A cat or a dog, absolutely not bought from a shop, but taken from your local dog (or cat) shelter collecting abandoned pets. Surely, not to save money, but for not to feed the shameful and illegal trade of puppies and other pets, mainly, from East Europe, well known from the chronicles.
8) A digital photo-camera; also this would be very useful during excursions.
9) This is surely the most romantic idea: a golden or silver jewel with the shape of the animal she likes better. In Campo Ligure, in the immediate inland of Genoa, Italy, there are many artisan workers producing beautiful little objects in golden or silver filigree. I give you some addresses in case you were in my region as tourists; to buy something, you can go or contact:
- Rizzo Filigrana
Via Saracco-23, Campo Ligure , tel.: + 10-920099
- Pastorino Filigrana
Via Convento-13, Campo Ligure, tel.: + 10-920905
- Carlini Giuseppe SNC
Via Trento-34 16013, Campo Ligure tel.: + 10-921047
- Gierre di Gianpaolo Rizzo
P.za Martiri della Benedicta-11, Campo Ligure, tel.: + 10-921026
10) In the case she had a garden, a good guidebook about organic farming could be very useful and appreciated if I knew she loves cultivating vegetables or flowers in the garden. The Valentine?s Day is the feast of love and surely love for animals and nature goes very well with the love between us.
Surely, I wouldn't give her a bunch of cut flowers, destined to die within few days, but a pot with a living plant she can care and make grow.
