One of the best diners in Carson City is located on Main Street entitled: Mom and Pops Diner. Originally a father and son business-then known as Pop's BBQ-quickly garnered respect and a reputation for good food and nice atmosphere. After the restaurant was officially given to Pop-Doug Cramer-the restaurant has transformed into an active community member. Pop met "Mom" and after a short time, they became infatuated with each other and married to form Mom and Pops.

Mom and Pops is a unique dining experience with a vast array of foods on the menu and plenty of options to drink. With outdoor seating the diner is a perfect chance to bring your four legged pet to enjoy the fresh air. Simply put, Mom and Pops diner is a friendly place serving breakfast and lunch in the heart of Carson City. Out the large windows on their porch you can see the Nevada State Legislature. The menu includes biscuits and gravy, hamburgers, rice bowls, cold sandwiches, and cinnamon rolls. The cinnamon rolls alone are well worth the drive.

The business is run by the husband and wife. However, the whole outfit is more or less a family business. Their daughters are serving up the food and more often than not, you could be waited on my Mom or Pop themselves. With adequate seating, this is truly a pleasurable dining experience. Plenty of space for larger groups it is a great place to stop for a bite before embarking to Lake Tahoe or Virginia City. Because of the central location of the diner, it is easy to stop in and then continue your journey.

Carson City offers many wonderful dining experiences. However, it seems that Mom and Pops Diner is a local and visitor favorite. With affordable meals, good atmosphere, and great food, Mom and Pops is an easy choice. If you happen to cross Carson City during the summer, every Friday night, Mom and Pops Diner in conjunction with other nearby businesses holds a concert series. Come down for good times, good food, and good friends. The bands vary from blues to rock, country and latin.

Truth be told, you won't be disappointed in any of the food in Carson City. The town has a rich palette of food from American food to the best sushi, Chinese, and Mexican food. Other notable diners in Carson are: The Cracker Box, Heidis, Carson City Bakery, Z Bistro. Mom and Pops is within walking distance of the Brewery Arts Center, The Governor's Mansion, The Children's Museum of Northern Nevada, the Blue Line Historic Tour, and many other points of interest to enjoy while you're in Carson City.
