My top five beauty products

My name is Penny...and I am a beauty addict. If the first step is admitting it, well, then I guess have a bit of a problem when it comes to beauty products. When I see a new product advertised, I have to try it. This leaves me with a bathroom cabinet full of products that were tried once or twice, then abandoned for the next hot new product.

But even I, like most women, have a few products that I will continue to buy over and over again because they are just that good. These are tried and true products that live up to their claims and make me look and feel beautiful. Just like the saying goes, "why mess with perfection?", I wouldn't change a thing about these products.

Since my top five products are all luxury brands, I would like to highlight an alternative drugstore brand along with each. When money is tight, these drugstore brands become my replacement top five and work beautifully as well. Let's face it- in this economy a girl needs options!

My number one beauty product is Diorshow mascara by Christian Dior. This stuff is not for the faint of heart- it gives the illusion of wearing false eyelashes. Diorshow is used on the runways and it lives up to every claim it makes. It has a giant brush that coats each and every lash with a clump-free formula that lengthens, thickens and curls all at the same time. If I'm in a hurry in the morning and don't have time to apply eyeshadow and liner, I can use this mascara by itself and it frames and opens up my eyes beautifully. It's a bit on the expensive side at $24, and when I don't have the budget for Diorshow, I opt for Neutrogena Healthy Volume Mascara. At around $8, this mascara comes very close to the Dior version- it has the giant sized brush, clump-free formula, and creates tons of length and volume.

My second favorite product is Fresh Sugar Rose Tinted Lip Treatment SPF 15 ($22.50). This is way more than your average lip balm. It gives lips just a hint of rosy color (great on any skin tone) and shine without the stickiness of gloss. It feels like silk on the lips and moisturizes better than anything else I've tried, practically eliminating fine lines. I use it every day and get tons of compliments on the color. It smells divine, subtly sweet like sugar, and comes packaged in a chic metal twist up tube. This is another product that I can slick on to look pulled together even when I'm not wearing any other makeup. My cheaper alternative is Blistex Lip Tone ($2.50). It gives the same universally flattering
