Website reviews: Mastertemplates.com

Mastertemplates.com is a site that has free CSS web templates, free logos, and free PowerPoint templates. The site has its share of ads and partner links, but as far as accessibility goes, the site does a great job.

In regards to the free CSS web templates, there are over 9 pages to choose from. Each template is listed by a number, so the most recent templates are labeled in the higher ranges (currently 90 is the newest template). Users can browse the templates by thumbnail, and then see a bigger image or preview the template by clicking on one.

The templates themselves are designed in a, well, an interesting way. What I mean by this is that most are very complex in using multiple images and colors, along with walls of text. While this could be what some users are after, there seems to be a lack of simplistic templates that some may be after. In addition, the templates definitely focus on business as a theme, so users looking for a personal web template may be disappointed.

Perhaps the best thing about these free templates is that they come in either PSD or HTML/CSS form, rather than only one. Most free template websites do not offer the PSD files, so editing a template's design is much harder. However all of the templates on Mastertemplates.com do offer the PSD files, which is great.

The free logos on Mastertemplates.com span two pages, but again, they focus almost solely on business, offering multiple uses of "CompanyName." Ultimately, it will be up to the user to determine if the free logos and templates on Mastertemplates.com will satisfy their needs.

Finally, there are two pages of decent looking PowerPoint templates on the site. For the third time, the theme here is clearly business or a corporate company, which may only cater towards certain users. Still, the templates are free, and for these PowerPoint templates, users receive a master page, a slide master page, and three backgrounds to work with. Moreover, PowerPoint themes are hard to come by on free template sites, so for that reason alone, users might want to check out Mastertemplates.com.

Overall, I would say that Mastertemplates.com is a good enough site. I recommend it for users looking to find business or corporate style templates, logos, or PowerPoint templates. The templates are free, and the PSD files are included, so editing the templates in Photoshop could also be an option for those inclined. I would definitely recommend visiting the site.
