Poetry: Beauty

by Cortland Mccabe

Created on: August 21, 2009

If only for this moment:

Our feet splash the sand into a cloud around us as we run across the beach.

Her golden hair reflects the setting sun as it brushes gently back and forth.

We reach the line between land and sea.

We fall to knees and gaze upon the horizon.

Bursting colors of orange and red fill our vision.

Blissful tears fall down our cheeks as the scenery sets in.

So many things are in the back our minds pressuring us to change our lives but right now... nothing else matters.

No other soul is to the left or right; it is just me and her watching the symphony of colors.

My heart gives way to the astonishing beauty of the natural world.

What else do I need but her and this sunset?

Dare I say that I am in love with my life now?

The natural beauty that this universe can offer is the remedy for any sadness.

Here I am, in the middle of my two loves just trying to bare it.

I am at last at peace with my life and with my planet; if only for this moment...
