How to play as a Sniper in Team Fortress 2

Great Tips for becoming a superb sniper! On TF2
Gear tips& class combat ideas further down

The sniper. What a class! The ability to just pop people off at a massive range and sit there at the back of the map destroying the enemy offence, with just 1 shot. The sniper is my favourite class on TF2 mainly for 3 reasons. The first being the pure power of the class and weapons, the second being the ease of long range combat and not having to really move much to kill anyone, and finally the coolness of the "well known martial art Jarate" hurling a jar of pee at the enemy which give mini crits on every hit on that guy.

Tips!

1. The first thing that you must do when playing as a sniper is to practice your shots. Take a few games to get a feel for the sniper and learn how to get the most of it. Also take this time to realise that you are quite defenceless when challenged in close quarter combat and try to pick up some tricks off of the other more experienced snipers. This is the best way to learn how to defend yourself.

2. Secondly USE THE CHARGE. The sniper is a massively powerful gun with the ability to take out even a heavy in 1 shot. On a full charge the sniper gains a 100% change of a critical hit, making even the most powerful enemy an easy target. The fully charged shot will kill a heavy in 1 go as long as you pop him in the head, which is a fairly big target and slow moving too! Make the most of these as when they come along with a medic behind; poppin the heavy right in front of the medics face is hilarious to see him run for his life only for you to nail him in the back of the head. This ability to charge your shot is great for controlling the enemy's offence as you will stop their heavies in their tracks

3. Watch for SPIES! These guys are the most annoying thing that you will have to face as a sniper, the relish in an attempt to stick a knife in your back. I find it a great idea to just have a little check behind you every 3-5 shots. This method puts off the nooby spies as they thing your onto them, so they move on, BUT a pro spy will just uncloak in the other room so you don't hear and kill you. SOOO a razorback is an amazing item to equip if you find yourself getting pwnd by spies. This however will then make them do 2 shots to your head with their ambassador which kills you as it will crit both times. That's why I do my little spy check.

4. NEVER stay in the same position for more than 3 minutes. Moving around makes you a harder to find target
