We Filipinos loves to eat desserts. Either fresh fruits or made goodies that can satisfy our sweet tooth and mangoes are one of them. Mangoes, especially in the Philippines are not all year round. So when they are plenty during summer season, I can't help, but make one of our favorite no bake desserts. The Mango Float. Sometimes it is called as the Mango Refrigerator Cake, an all-time favorite since it tastes like ice cream cake.
To make this, you will need the following ingredients: Five pieces slice ripe mangoes cut lengthwise. (Choosing ripe mangoes that are sweet is easy. Just smell the part that was cut from the branch. If it has a sweet tangy smell, then it's sweet. If you can't smell anything, it probably is sour and was ripen by means of carbide. This is done by putting the mangoes in a basket covered with paper and the carbide until they ripen). Prepare one big can of condense milk and one big can of all purpose cream mix in a bowl, two packs graham crackers and a fifteen inch by ten rectangular baking dish.
The first step is, arrange the first layer of graham crackers in the baking dish. Others want their graham crush so it's up to you. I want mine as it is because it is easier to pile. Next, lace the pile with the cream and milk mixture then layer with mangoes. You can also cover the mangoes with the milk-cream mixture. If you want you can also put the mangoes in a food processor and make it into a puree then you could mix it with the milk and cream and lace it to the graham, but it is much better to have chunks of mangoes that you could taste. Cover the milk-cream mixture and mangoes with another layer of graham crackers. Repeat the second step that is covering the graham with the milk-cream mixture and the mangoes. Continue by doing and repeating the first step and second steps until there is no more graham crackers left to pile or if there are any left you could set that aside to crush for garnishing. The last step would be covering the last layer of graham crackers with the milk-cream mixture and the mangoes and sprinkle some crush graham crackers to it. When done, refrigerate it until set and ready to eat.
This dessert is best eaten when cold because it is firm and in shape.
