Young people of this day and age, have grown up with so much technology, that they actually believe that they can not survive without it. Senior citizens who grew up without it, say, "that when they were growing up, it was THE GOOD OLD DAYS.." It was a simpler life before technology took over the world. Yes, we have become totally controlled by technology.

One thing that seems to be a positive for technology, is the fact that people have learned to be more PATIENT. They don't have any choice. Making a phone call years ago was simple. Either someone answered the phone, you got a busy signal and knew someone was there, or no one answered the phone. It was that simple. Not anymore, Now making a phone call is so frustrating and complicated, that seniors hate making a call. They often have to have a young person make the call for them.

All these "so called," improved phone systems, waste time, and aggravate the caller. It becomes an endless merry-go-round of push this number for this, and that number for that. If you are lucky, you may get to talk to a human being after being put on hold for an hour. If you hang up and call again, you have to repeat the whole process all over again. Where do we get the "Improved" out of this?

Do not go to the bank to cash a check or make any kind of transaction if the computers are down. The whole world goes on pause. Our education system is pushing for more advanced math to be taught. Why? A bank teller can not even cash a check, or accept a deposit, without the computer doing all the work for them. Yes, we are controlled by technology. We have all been made into "robots," programmed to obey the world of technology.

We are not even allowed to pay cash to rent a car, stay in a hotel, or pay for certain items. Businesses require us to use a bank or credit card. Even employers are now requiring that you have a bank account to pay you your wages through direct deposit. We have all lost our freedoms of choice with all this technology. It never seems to end.

Seniors remember the old record players and records. Now it seems like every year some new technical gadget comes out to replace the last one. We are forced to trash the older model because they stop selling the older models. You can not even buy a simple typewriter ribbon anymore. They simply stopped selling them. You can not even get one in the Office Supply stores. Computers have taken over.

Even the Post Offices are closing down across the country. Mailboxes have already been removed from street corners, because everyone is addicted to E-mail and FAX machines. Hand writing is becoming a lost art. Everyone is brainwashed into thinking they need a cell phone, because all the pay phones have also been removed from street corners. The few that remain here and there, often require a credit or debit card to make a call. The bottom line to all this technology, is PROFITS for those who invent all these things.

Technology has controlled not only society, but the entire world. When the year 2000 was approaching, people went into a panic of fear that all computers all over the would would shut down. People would not even be able to get water without the computers working. Engineers worked overtime like crazy to fix the problem. The year 2000 came and went with no problems. That doesn't mean that this fear won't happen again. We are all so DEPENDENT of technology for everything, we can not even imagine living without it.

All this amazing technology still has not found a way to cure the common cold or cancer; So why do we worship it like its God? Are we controlled by technology? We sure are.
