Video game tips: Rushing with the Undead in Warcraft III The Frozen Throne

The Undead are a very powerful race and are even deadlier when it comes to rushes. With the capability to produce more units earlier on than any of the other races, the Undead easily come out on top with such a swarm of units.

For the rush I would create two crypt to produce massive amounts of ghouls and I would also train a dreadlord for his vampiric aura. Unfortunately the ghouls end up unupgraded in order to make the massing possible because there isn't enough money to build a graveyard to increase their attack damage or armor. All the money is spent on making more and more ghouls. On the plus side, with a mass ghoul rush, you end up making approximately 1000 excess lumber which can be split amongst allies.

So let's begin. Everybody starts out with 500 gold and 150 wood in the beginning. With this gold build a crypt with an acolyte right away. Hotkeys are a must for rushes in order to save time to send workers to work. Now send the 2 other acolytes to the gold mine and the ghoul to the woods to chop some lumber. Before your building acolyte summons up the crypt, select your Necropolis to train up two acolytes and set the rally point on the mine. Now by the time the building acolyte reaches the site for the altar, send him to build a ziggurat as close as possible to the gold mine. This can be used to build a nerubian tower to stop annoying blademastersthat harass your acolytes but I actually spend the money on an extra ghoul instead which is probably a bad idea. I do however recommend building that freezing tower.

To be honest, I actually build altars before building a crypt, but with the crypt first, a little spare wood can come in earlier than it would if the altar were to be built first. So speaking of the altar, now is the time to build it. When enough gold is mined up, send an acolyte to summon an altar but make sure to immediately send him back to the mine. Exercise the shift right click method which will have your acolyte summon up a building but then walk back to the mine without requiring further assistance or prodding to go back to mining gold. Then when there is enough gold for an extra acolyte, train one. Although only five acolytes can mine a gold mine at a time, having that extra acolyte for summoning buildings reduces gold loss from having a lack only four acolytes draining gold out of the mine. I used to think that it would be okay to have four acolytes on the mine for around five seconds, but that really takes a toll on gold bank
