Speaking for yourself

by David O'Brien

Created on: August 19, 2009

When silence enters the moment of time, we tend to hear others want to preach the power of speak. Who is to say that anything at that moment even needs to be spoken. For us all to know when to express our words properly would seem much too routine. This is a lesson we must learn through time, and earn stripes along the way. We have several types of moods, which also need to mesh with those around us. Not every person is a point of interest in our lives, but we may require a time to question, or be questioned, by that very one.

I feel if we could just approach life as a privilege sense, knowing a voice can be heard when expressed. Many we listen to choose only to speak in order to hear their own words. What need does this feed, other than breaking the silence inside ones self. To truly be heard by those around you, is to first listen, with genuine interest. A conversation that is manipulated with sole intent, ends abruptly. If this is still the need, just buy a mirror, and go to town. Arrogance is plentiful today, and two self centered people add humor to a day. Just don't include me please.

Expression is important throughout our years. An art form you can say. We all, at some point in our lives, find fault with someone who rubs abrasively when spoken to. We then try harder to make that special impression, only to act out without realism. It would then be next to impossible to change that opinion, which adds power to this scenario. To merely back away politely, take notice to this blunder, and carry yourself wisely into the next sequence in life, is a great way to sever this play. This person would continuously try to play this power position, until you yourself recognize, who it is you are. When a balanced position is maintained, it makes for incredible difficulty to be pushed from a stable base. Additional efforts that may be attempted, would mean this person should be avoided all together. Nothing rude has to be done, just better notice of those we encounter.

We all have so much to learn to properly portrait our image in a meaningful way. Stumble we may from time to time, but having good vision is essential no matter your personality or world you live in. To be a better listener, is probably the best advice anyone could ever give. Equal say is not a given in life. To be able to hear more than what is spoken by ones self, is a quality I look for in my circle of life.
