The "must" factor in being born again
There are several considerations in the MUST factor of being born again.
First, one MUST realize that there is a problem. That, Yes, I am a sinner.
I worked as a Probation and Parole officer for a few years and in doing so there were many clients on probation that really did not realize that they even had issues. For many of them, their lifestyles were okay, it was all they had ever known.
In some cases, their parents were always in trouble or drug users, most of all the people they knew lived in the same situations. Therefore, for them, their dysfunctional lives were normal. They could not see a better life. Or a different life. Therefore, for them there was nothing else to look forward to.
Luke 5: 31 And Jesus replied to them, It is not those who are healthy who need a physician, but those who are sick.
Secondly, one MUST realize that they cannot handle life's issues by themselves, that they need help or guidance. One MUST be able to humble themselves to receive help. Regardless of ones financial status, or race. No one ever got anywhere in life, by themselves, No man is an Island. We all need help in life, no matter what the endeavor.
Too many of us, especially the male species, we like to think that we can handle things on our own. Men actually are expected to do this. Women, generally speaking look at men as if they have all the answers. Bring home the bacon and solve all the problems.
Men have this macho, Clint Eastwood, strong, mysterious; I do not need anyone's help, mentality. Moreover, we dare not show weakness. We will not ask for help in the arena of matters of the heart.
Then one MUST actually practice what is taught to them. And that they are doing the right thing. To accept Jesus into their lives. In addition, to actually follow the direction of a spiritual leader, and the Bible. To have faith.
To explain further the reason we all MUST to be born again, we must look at the Ten Commandments. The commandments for all intensive purposes were to show us that we are in need of a savior. Let me explain. No one can follow the commandments totally.
Now perhaps we have not killed someone, and I will go out on a limb and say, perhaps we have not committed adultery, but I am sure we have all failed at the other commandments at one time or another.
Therefore, if we are depending on the commandments to get us into heaven or that our lives will be okay if we follow the commandments
