Danielle Steel is well known for her romance novels. She has written over one hundred books. In addition to her romance novels, she has also written a book of poems and some books for children.
Many of her novels have been adapted for television into movies. Some examples of adaptations are Safe Harbor and Jewels. There are many more, but this gives you some examples of what has been adapted to a movie for the television.
From what I have read about her, she has lived a full life. She has lived through her share of heartaches. Many of her heartaches she wrote about in her book, His Bright Light. It was about her son Nick, but it also talked about her life too. She spent part of her time in New York, California and even Paris.
She is an amazing woman when it comes to her writing. What I found is that most of her books, that she uses history as her background to her story. Mirror image uses World War II as the background. Some of her books are very upbeat and yet others are very sad, like the ones that have to do with the Titanic.
When you read her books, you usually don't want to put it down until you are done with the book. She knows how to draw her readers into the books.
She has two sites. One is an official site through her publisher and an unofficial one where she writes in a blog of her own you really get to see that she is a down to earth type of person. At least that is what it shows to us readers online.
She's been writing since nineteen and is still going strong. She publishes at least 2 books a year which is remarkable. She is a top selling author for a reason; she writes great books. Sometimes I have noticed that she had similar character names in multiple books of hers. I remember a couple of her books a few years back that I had read back to back of each other and had noticed that there was a similarity between the two books. They were a totally different story, but the characters were similar. Once you get into a writing style, you come accustom to it so sometimes between two books, there may be some similar wordings between the two which she has done before.
Why read her stuff even if it's similar in nature? It does not matter to me. Her books are still great and sometimes she may not have realized she had done something similar in nature in the past. There have been some books I had thought would be great as sequels, but she never will write a sequel which she has her reasons for and I understand that. We as a reader can make up what happened to the characters after we close up the book. One other thing, with the invention of the kindle, all of her books are available on the kindle which is a very good thing. I am glad to see that she sees the advantage of making her books available on the kindle. There are some authors that will not make their books available on electronic format and they are losing out, but Danielle sees the value of making her available in various formats.
