Raised in the system, she knows it too well.
Life without parents sure has been hell.
Her bitterness causes her caretakers pain,
She feels as though her life's been in vain.
No one can handle her wild crazy streak,
So out her window she started to sneak.
She starts to run with the wrong kind of crowd,
Of her new independence she is proud.
Her workers don't seem to understand,
Perfection it seems is what they demand.
She feels she just can't bear another day,
So one night she resorts to running away.
Out in the world, cold and alone,
She now has no where to call her own.
She stays with a friend, for awhile maybe,
Then finds out she'll have her own baby.
The sight of police makes her run,
She stays in the house, which is no fun.
She talks to her doctor, she knows she has to,
He calls CPS, it's what he must do.
Caught once again she's back in a home,
To raise her baby but now not alone.
She's wanted a family so very bad,
She looks at her baby but still feels sad.
She works hard every day to finish school.
She wants no one to ever think she's a fool.
At last she begins to feel like a success.
At school and home, she's given her best.
Now a grown woman, she looks back to see,
A lost little girl who didn't know she would be
The mom to a child who now brings her joy,
A successful life she now can enjoy.
