Have you ever seen a couple walk down the street holding hands? From one glance you know this couple has feelings for each other. This is affection and it is very important in relationships. Many people take for granted the power of physical affection because it is only an outward display of fondness. However, it is more important because it usually conveys a strong message to the person receiving the affection. The person getting it knows they are adored and cared for. Below are reasons showing affection is vital in connections.

Affection is defined as the emotion or emotions of gentleness shown toward another person. It is demonstrating love and tenderness to another human being. Types of affection are holding hands, kissing, rubbing, eye contact and hugging. When two people like each other, they stand closer together and look happy.

Helps two people relate

When two people show affection towards one another it is easier for them to feel closer and relate. This is the base of a connection. Relating to others is what relationships are about. This is why the majority of people feel the most connected when they converse with others. Touching is a form of communication. It helps in numerous ways.

Helps people feel more comfortable with each other

When a person holds another's hand or rubs their back chances are the person will feel much more relaxed around them. In order for relationships to work out, two people must be calm enough to have good chemistry. Affection helps this along. When a person holds are hand or makes eye contact we tend to feel closer and more at ease. Have you ever looked at someone who avoids looking you in the eye? How do you feel? Do you feel in touch with them? Chances are you don't.

It often conveys love

When a person hugs or kisses another it shows love. Love is one of those emotions that needs to be shown. You see, I don't believe in telling a person you love them. I believe in showing it. Action speaks louder than words. It is hard not to embrace someone you love. However, there are people out there who not show affection to others. Some people do not know how to show affection towards others. It helps to make this a part of a relationship because it keeps it healthy.

A relationship is the connection between two people. Within the structure of a relationship, two people must find a level playing field in which to relate on. Basically is having something in common. Through verbal and non verbal communication this can be offered. Embracing and light touching can say more than words.
