High Tea in the Garden
Wilbur the cat was on the prowl,
In merry old Bristol it was.
Mid August he came a-foul,
Setting the Internet a-buzz.
While stalking rodents, as they do,
In a neighbor's garden, t'was heard...
A quantum screech... his owner's knew...
Wilbur is in trouble, was the word!
In suspense, anguish and hope jaded,
And such a valiant row it was,
But as Wilbur's crescendo faded,
They imagined the worst, as one does.
Authorities summoned at once,
And at the scene, not a trace.
Except the neighbor's pet's presence,
One of fine ophidian grace.
A 3 meter Burmese python prime...
An enigma, they had their hunch;
X-rays clearly showed the sublime...
Indeed, poor Wilbur had been lunch.

Stretch and leap,
Down to the floor.
Preen soft grey fur,
Just
I sleep, I eat, I sleep some more
I'm always watchful at the door
There isn't anything I miss
Except my empty cat food dish
