As I was in prayer and meditation, I read a quote by the late Henry Drummond in his book on love which reads: "It is better not to live than not to love." Wow right? So, as I pondered on that, I reflected that the one thing we take for granted, yet cannot do without is love.
What comes to mind? The famous chapter in the Bible - 1 Corinthians 13...it's called the "Love Chapter" and these words formed within my heart:
"Return to loving one another for that is where the sweetness is.
It is the sweetness of God to love another human being.
Love is more powerful than anything - Yet it's the one thing we seem to
take most for granted. How can that be, when Love is planted in the heart of
every living being. Love covers a multitude of transgression.
Love is the syrup on pancakes, the honey protected by bees, the song in your heart, the voices of praise towards the Father in Heaven.
Love is the smile that reaches your eyes - the mirrors of your soul.
Love is the listening ear, the nonjudgmental tone.
Love is in the gentle admonition to live holy and do what's right.
Love is the softness of a baby's skin - a miracle birthed before your very eyes.
Love is in the laughter shared between family as they eat together.
Love is fellowship with one another as we all are burden bearers.
Love cries with you, sighs with you, rejoices with you...
Love is suffering in twos.
Love is patiently waiting - not bitterly anticipating the worse to happen -
Love rejoices in the Truth. It dances, just as a woman dances to her favorite song, or a child bounces to a tune no one else can hear. Happily she sways to the drumbeat in her ears.
Love is...the earth in all its beauty.
A butterfly, a crisp, blue sky, white powdery sands, the joining of two hands.
A perfect hybrid rose, a dolphin jumping majestic ocean waves...
Love is children at play, grandma's gentle sway in her rocking chair as she crochets.
Love is lying in your spouse's arms just listening to them breathe - or watching them sleep, or praying together in agreement of their dreams. Love is agreeing to disagree, living in harmony...
a concerto in the park under the stars...the melodies rising.
Love is...so many, many things - but more importantly Love is He...God & as He is...so we should be."
Are we?
Loving Him?
Loving others?
Loving what He created?
Loving as He is...Love.
God bless us and help us to...love.
