It is not that I disbelieve in God, I just have no proof that He is real. I am agnostic. I like facts. I believe in the possibility of a God, but not in the Almighty himself. I have many things that may say that He exists, but none are facts. My family is religious and they tell me that He is real. I have several Bibles and they say that He is real. I have gone to church on many occasions and everybody there seems to think He is real. So why not me? I will tell you why.
I am entitled to my own thoughts and beliefs as that is how I was raised, for the most part. The exception was God. I can make my own decisions and learn from my own mistakes as long as I always believe in the Lord. I wasn't supposed to ask questions, I was supposed to just follow. This was difficult for me as a child as my mother changed her religions with her husbands, so I had the opportunity to learn about various faiths and belief systems. Believe it or not, they are all fairly the same in the end, with a different name they call out and a different path to get there.
Point number two, the Bible. The words in this book date back to before writing was even created. There is no proof in this book for me that it is non-fiction. To me, it is like a VERY long book of fiction written by extremely creative authors. How does one truly know that this book is nothing more than the works of a folk lore or fish tale. People can tell stories of what has happened to them, and because it seems significant or interesting, their kin will keep telling it. It changes through time. If I said that I found a piece of ancient history, a missing part to the Bible, and that I had it translated, would you believe me? Probably not. Why? Because I am here and in the now and just a random person walking this place we call Earth. That is who the author of this book was. There is no proof that it is real. The Bible is not supposed to be taken literally, it is filled with stories of love, hate, and betrayal to name a few. Everything has been exaggerated to prove a point to make this world a better place, but it is those same exaggerations that have ruined people as a whole.
Church. Why? What is the point? Come as you are. What a joke in most holy temples. I have walked into these places wearing jeans and a t-shirt and sporting my favorite "holy" shoes. You should have seen the looks that I got from the members. Their noses snubbed at me. Not to mention the eye-rolling
