While sitting on my porch swing one April afternoon;
I heard the sound of hummers, flitting in the blooms.
These beautiful winged creatures, of majestic hue in flight;
Make vibrant sounds of droning, when nectar is in their sight.
Ruby-throated hummingbirds are the prettiest ones of all;
They are native to Missouri, but vacating in the fall.
They sip on store-bought feeders or petunias do just fine;
Trumpet Creepers are number one, making a hummer's life sublime.
They are part of God's creation and the smallest of its kind;
Only an average of three inches, they seem to do just fine.
These evasive little birds are too quick to miss their mark;
Makes me wonder, how did Noah, board them on the ark?
