Looking out my Window
If I look out my window what will I see?
Death and destruction running free?
Love and understanding cowering beneath
the evil and hate corrupting you and me?
If I look out my window what will I see?
Peace and prosperity living side by side?
War and poverty laying in wait
waiting for their chance to reawaken
slaughtering the innocent babe?
If I look out my window what will I see?
You standing on the other side waiting for me?
Only shadows of darkness and emptiness
mocking me, taunting me with my need?
If I look out my window what will I see?
Reality waiting to be discovered like a person
waking from sleep? Terrors that only
surface deep in the night lurking in
the shadows of twilight?
Looking out my window, this is what I see
A mixture of all these things
depending on my frame of mind
altering my perception of reality and time.
