Poetry: Nature's seasons

by Rachel Carter

Created on: August 15, 2009

these petals are as soft as feathers.
pick one for me, why not?
it's raining honey; stick out your tongue,
and take a taste.

let's stay here together
here in this place I am caught,
and of this the birds have sung, so please,
put your arms around my waist.
let me stay here with you.

rays of sunshine warm our cheeks,
and our feet dangle in the placid lake.
I found a tiny row boat,
let's find a tiny island.

there is no need to speak.
I know this is not a mistake
as we continue to float;
heading towards the highlands.
I want hide among the trees that I see.

these leaves are falling,
covering the ground with shades of red.
throw them into the sky,
and watch them come back down.

I feel that I have wings,
and is if there was nothing to dread.
throw me into the air so I can fly,
and I'll rush back to you with a crown,
made from the fluffiest clouds.

snowflakes are falling on my nose.
the wind is wrapping around me,
pull me closer and keep me warm.
hold my freezing hands.
