The state of the economy today has many families searching for ways to stay home and earn money. The reasons are many and each are personal. Perhaps they have lost their job or their job position is not looking as secure as it did in past years.

The increase in cost of living expenses also has caused even those who have jobs to seek out something they can do from home in their spare time or days off to bring in extra income.

The possibilities of things that one can do to earn money at home are almost endless. You should start by sitting down and making a list of all of your talents and interests in life. Then brainstorm ways to make a profit from them.

Many hobbies can easily be turned into a profitable small business. If you enjoy photography then perhaps you can offer your services for weddings and special events. Do you love baking and decorating cakes? Many busy moms would love to purchase special theme cakes for their child's birthday party. If this is your special talent then it's not a far jump to offer complete birthday party services. You would handle everything from shopping, decorating, entertainment, food and clean up. Your new business can easily grow by branching out to other party events such as bridal showers and retirement parties.

A quick search of the Internet will help inspire many new ideas to make money from home. If you love shopping garage sales then consider searching for items that you can pick up at a great bargain and sell for a profit through Ebay or Craigsslist. Many stay at home mom's have turned Ebay into a very lucrative business.

Start small and remember that a lucrative business isn't built overnight. Get the word out there in your community about your new business. Start with your friends, family and neighbors. Don't be shy about asking them to help you spread the word. Make sure you have business cards made up so you can hand them out to people. A small ad in your community newspaper or even your church bulletin are great tools to help spread the word about your new business.

Taking that first step into staying home and earning money is always the hardest but, once you get going everything will fall into place. Take some time daily to work on your new business even if you are not earning anything at the moment. Try to set up goals for your business and a business plan. It's important to know which direction you are going in and just how you plan to get there.

In time you will sit back and wonder why you ever waited so long to start staying home and earning money. Remember, find your passion in life and you will soon find a way to turn it into a lucrative business.
